Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces derived from deadstock 1990's kimono silk roll.
Fabric Description: This is medium to heavy weight silk for use in making a formal kimono, Thick, with no translucence; the fabric is orange on the reverse but the front is colored light peach and light gold every 14.75 inches / 37.47cm; metallic sheen quality throughout; there are 6 of these blocks, alternating a tsuzumi drum and Empress (or, Princess) Tree, 3 pairs in the full length, also mums and other small flowers; these background-color 'blocks' are scarcely visible except in bright light and up very close, resulting in a special glow or sheen to the piece; and with shifts in hues depending on the angle of view and lighting; heavier silk does not wrinkle easily but has little drape;
